Mother of Pearl / Die Perlmutterfarbe
A Children's Novel for Almost Everyone
A pot of self-mixed paint, mother-of-pearl, disappears from the school bag of »Mole«, one of the most popular pupils in the class. First suspicions are voiced, mistrust of the parallel class grows, the hunt for a scapegoat begins.

It is impossible to imagine 20th century literature without this novel about two German school classes in the early 1930s, about betrayal and friendship, greed for power and solidarity.
