Particularly for the inexperienced, gardening can often seem like a complicated science. There seem to be a thousand things to consider, and the possibilities are endless. Should I prune my roses just above the third bud or the fifth? Do I need a compost heap? And most importantly: How do I find plants that I not only like, but that will also be happy in my garden? It’s really not that complicated, says Horst Mager, once you stop trying to work against your garden and start working with it: you just need to accept the conditions of your garden, choose plants that are suited to the location, and intervene only when you really need to. And otherwise, you can just leave the garden alone. That’s the only way to get a garden that is resistant to the summer, able to withstand long periods of heat.

The passionate gardener and horticulturalist Horst Mager shows readers how to create a low-maintenance garden that is sustainable and in sync with nature. One that is resistant to changes in the climate, vibrant, and, in a word, beautiful.
