Bärbel Reetz receives Prize of the International Hermann Hesse Society 2021

Bärbel Reetz is awarded the Prize of the International Hermann Hesse Society 2021, endowed with 10,000 Euros.

With this prize, the Society honours a researcher and author who has not only published works such as Zeitsprung, The Russian Patient and Lenin's Sisters to great critical acclaim, but who has also rendered great services to the research of Hermann Hesse's work, biography and context. The jury gives special mention to her book Hesse's Wives, which is considered a »standard work of Hesse research« due to its thorough research.

The Prize of the International Hermann Hesse Society honours authors who promote the study of Hesse and his works. Bärbel Reetz is to receive the prize on November 20, 2021 in Calw.

Bärbel Reetz, born in 1942, lives in Berlin. She has won several literary prizes for her works including the Bettina von Arnim Prize in 1994.
