On March 7, 2023, Oswald Egger celebrates his 60th birthday.
The author was born in Lana, South Tyrol, in 1963. In 1992, he graduated from the University of Vienna with a degree in literary studies and philosophy. From 1988 to 1998, he was the editor of the journal Der Prokurist and of the edition per procura. In 2011, he was made Professor of »Language and Form« at the Muthesius Academy of Art in Kiel.
Oswald Egger’s poetry has been published in French, English and other languages. He has received numerous awards for his works, including the Ernst Jandl Prize (2019), the Georg Trakl Prize (2017), the Peter Huchel Prize (2007) and the Clemens Brentano Prize for Poetry (2000). He was Writer in Residence at Villa Aurora in Los Angeles in 2001, received a Villa Massimo Fellowship in 2014 and the Robert Musil Fellowship in 2020.
Suhrkamp Verlag most recently published Egger’s work Entweder ich habe die Fahrt am Mississippi nur geträumt, oder ich träume jetzt (2021), an elaborately designed book that includes numerous drawings and paintings and that tells of the experience of Austrian emigrants to the USA.
