Philipp Weiss receives the 2018 Literary Prize of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation

This year, the Jürgen Ponto Foundation’s Literary Prize for the Support of Young Artists, endowed with 15.000 Euros, goes to Philipp Weiss for his debut novel Am Weltenrand sitzen die Menschen und lachen.

The Jürgen Ponto Foundation awards its Literary Prize to young authors who are working on their first comprehensive book manuscript and who display particular literary talent. In 2017, the Prize had been awared to Sasha Marianna Salzmann for her debut novel Außer sich, translated into 14 languages.

Philipp Weiss was born in Vienna, where he currently lives and works, in 1982. He studied German studies and philosophy and has published theatre plays and short stories. Am Weltenrand sitzen die Menschen und lachen is his first novel. In 2018, he was awarded the Literary Prize of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation.
