Philipp Weiss wins Klaus Michael Kühne Prize 2018

For his novel Am Weltenrand sitzen die Menschen und lachen author Philipp Weiss has been awarded the  Klaus Michael Kühne Prize 2018.

From the statement of the jury: »With Am Weltenrand sitzen die Menschen und lachen Philipp Weiss has written an astonishing novel, which with its formal richness reminds us of what the novel can do: literally, everything. […] a furiously clever, poetic, funny and wicked book. Philipp Weiss captures the insanity of our world in words.«

The Klaus Michael Kühne Prize is awarded to the best debut novel of 2018. The award ceremony will take place on September 21, 2018.

Philipp Weiss was born in Vienna, where he currently lives and works, in 1982. He studied German studies and philosophy and has published theatre plays and short stories. Am Weltenrand sitzen die Menschen und lachen is his first novel. In 2018, he was awarded the Literary Prize of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation.
