Suhrkamp author Rainald Goetz celebrates his 70th birthday on 24 May 2024.

Goetz is one of Germany’s most prominent and versatile writers. The author of numerous novels, plays, and genre-defying works of literature, Goetz was honoured in 2015 with the Büchner Prize, the most prestigious award in German letters.

Goetz’s most recent publications with Suhrkamp are Lapidarium and wrong. Lapidarium gathers together three of Goetz’s plays, each of which addresses a dark but unavoidable theme of 21st-century life, namely torture, terror, and suicide. The collection wrong is made up of interventionist texts. Essays on literature and society, reflective memoir-like meditations, all in Goetz’s unmistakable, conversational style.

We wish the author all the best on this special day.
