Remembering Ulrich Beck

On 15 May 2024, Suhrkamp author Ulrich Beck would have celebrated his 80th birthday. Beck was a sociologist whose work was recognised right around the world. He was primarily interested in transformation processes within modern societies, particularly those brought about by the process of globalisation.
His book Risk Society, first published in 1986, became a bestseller, finding a readership well beyond the confines of academia, and it has since been translated into more than 20 languages. His most recent publication with Suhrkamp Verlag was the 2017 title The Reinvention of Politics.
