We are delighted to announce that Clemens J. Setz has been awarded the Heinrich-von-Kleist Prize 2020 for his œuvre.

From the jury's statement: »With Clemens J. Setz, the Kleist-Prize is awarded to a literary extremist in the best sense of the word, a storyteller and playwright who constantly amazes his readers anew with anarchic imagination and malicious gaiety, lets them participate in his unsettling mental universe and thus pulls them out into the giddiness of freedom. His curious gaze onto the world disturbes the scales of normality and connects the most alert contemporaneity with the ancient questions, it regards humans as well as machines and that which distinguishes them from one another – always fundamentally trusting in the power of the image and in the unsuspended suspended crossing of the border between the visionary and the pathological.«

The Heinrich-von-Kleist Prize is endowed with EUR 20.000; the prize giving ceremony will be held on November 22, 2020 at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin.
