Suhrkamp is delighted to announce that both Dana Vowinckel and Julia Jost have been shortlisted for the Fulda Literaturpreis 2024 for their novels
The World in a Ziplock Bag and
Hide and Seek respectively. A total of nine authors are in the running for the prize, which recognises the best German-language debut novel and comes with a cash prize of 10,000 EUR. Thirty-nine novels were submitted by twenty-three different publishers for the award, with the list whittled down by an independent jury.
The jury for 2024 is made up of the literary critic Christoph Schröder, writer Zsuzsa Bánk, critic Julia Schröder, writer Christoph Peters, and the author Silke Stamm, who received the Literaturpreis Fulda in 2023. The Literaturpreis Fulda is organized by Silke Hartmann from the agency Kulturperle - Kommunikation und Kulturmanagement on behalf of the City of Fulda and in cooperation with the city’s department of culture.
The final decision will be announced at the end of January. Our fingers are crossed for Julia and Dana!
