Efrat Gal-Ed, born in Tiberias, Israel, in 1956, studied Jewish studies, German philology and comparative literary studies as well as painting and holds a PhD in Yiddish studies. Efrat Gal-Ed is a painter and author and lives in Cologne. She teaches Yiddish literature and culture at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.
