Ruth Andreas-Friedrich

Ruth Andreas-Friedrich (1901–1977) was a fighter in the German resistance to Nazism, a journalist and author. After the Nazis came to power, she and her partner Leo Borchard founded the resistance group »Onkel Emil«, which helped those persecuted by the Nazi regime by hiding them, providing them with food and procuring false papers. The group also campaigned for people sentenced to death, including Helmuth James Graf von Moltke. In 1948, Ruth Andreas-Friedrich moved to Munich, where she married the director of the Munich University Polyclinic, Walter Seitz. Ruth Andreas-Friedrich died by suicide on 17 September 1977.
